350mm square image on an A2 sheet. ‘Hackney’ is inspired by the work of Scottish jewellery designer, and ex-housemate Katy Hackney. Based on an original brooch design – where the only precious metal element was an arrow embedded in polished wood, sprouting out of a puzzle-painted wood block base. This is my loose interpretation of the piece, but adapted to a very different medium. The arrow is printed and then dusted with gold powder, allowing for a more metallic effect than simple gold ink would produce.
